Apple releases iOS 12.1.2 (final) update with eSIM fix

WHAT’S NEW IN IOS 12.1.2 (FINAL VERSION)?

Apple has released iOS 12.1.2 for all compatible iPhone models (iPhone 5s and above). Its build ID is 16C101 and it weighs around 150-200MB.

Interestingly, this final update comes just a week after Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 12.1.2 firmware. It does not bring new features but focuses on fixing bugs and glitches, especially on the A12 devices.

As the all-new eSIM feature is still in infancy, it’s a bit difficult to set up and get it working. A number of users have complained about sporadic connection drops while on both SIM cards.

While it’s not known yet what’s behind this issue, iOS 12.1.2 fixes the eSIM bug that caused issues while activating eSIM on the iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR devices.



Further, this update also fixes a mobile data transfer error for Turkish iPhone XR iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max users.

Open the stock Settings app and select General.


Scroll down and select Software Update.


Tap Download and Install to initiate the download.


Follow onscreen instructions and install the update on your iPhone.
SHOULD YOU UPGRADE?

Yes, you must upgrade your iPhone if you are experiencing connection drops while using an eSIM card.

Unfortunately, you will be forced to upgrade if you are experiencing eSIM issues on iOS 12.1, thus relinquishing a jailbreak-compatible firmware that could possibly receive a jailbreak in the future.
